Here is exactly what we know about you.
MorrisElder is an independent editorial team. We are not a data broker, we do not sell your information, and we do not run behavioral ads. This page tells you what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Effective September 4, 2026.
The short version
- If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email and the date you subscribed.
- If you send us a message through the contact form, we store what you wrote and your email so we can reply.
- We use privacy-respecting analytics to see which articles are read most. We do not create advertising profiles.
- We never sell, rent, or trade your information.
- You can ask us what we have on you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@morriselder.com. We respond within 30 days.
What we collect
Newsletter subscriptions
When you enter your email to subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address, the date you subscribed, and (optionally, if you tell us) your first name. That is it. We do not require and do not collect a phone number, a home address, or demographic information.
Contact-form messages
When you write to us through the contact form on our contact page, we store the message you sent and the email you gave us so we can reply. We do not attach that message to any advertising or third-party profile.
Analytics
We use privacy-respecting analytics to count article views, referral sources, and general geography (city / country only, no street-level tracking). We do not attach a persistent identifier to individual readers. If your browser sends a Do-Not-Track signal, we honor it.
Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps standard web-server access logs (IP address, page requested, timestamp, browser type) for 30 days for security and debugging. These logs are not merged with any other database.
How we use it
- Newsletter: to send you the emails you asked for. We use a reputable email service to deliver them. You can unsubscribe with one click at the bottom of any email.
- Contact messages: to reply to your question. We keep the thread for 12 months in case you write back, then archive or delete it.
- Analytics: to see which articles help the most caregivers so we know what to write next.
Who we share it with
We share your information only with the vendors we need to run the site: the email-delivery service that sends our newsletter, the analytics provider, and our web host. Each is bound by their own data-processing agreements. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone else, ever.
We will comply with a valid court order or subpoena. If that ever happens and it is legal to do so, we will tell you first.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you exactly what we have on you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your data (right to be forgotten).
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Stop processing your data.
Email hello@morriselder.com from the address you subscribed with, and we will respond within 30 days. There is no fee for these requests. If you are in the EU / UK, you have these rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you are in California, you have parallel rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), enforced by the California Attorney General.
Family caregivers often carry sensitive information about a parent's health, finances, and legal arrangements. If you share such information in a message to us (for example, describing a situation you want editorial coverage on), we treat it with the same discretion we would want for our own families. It stays in the message thread. It does not become source material for an article without your explicit consent.
Cookies
We use only what is technically required. A session cookie for the site to work, and an analytics cookie you can decline. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party sharing cookies.
Children
MorrisElder is written for adult family caregivers. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for material changes, email newsletter subscribers before the change takes effect. Prior versions are available on request.
Contact
Privacy questions, deletion requests, corrections: hello@morriselder.com. We aim to respond within one business day and never more than 30 days.
